A Landscape Design Studio Rooted in Colorado
Native Land Studio is led by landscape designer Dennise Banuelos and based in Johnstown, Colorado. We design water-wise landscapes, living roofs, and outdoor spaces that belong to the Front Range, and we coordinate the build so they get made the way they were drawn.
Native plants, honest water budgets, buildable plans
Native Land Studio was founded on a simple observation: most Front Range landscapes are designed for a wetter, milder climate than the one we live in. They drink too much water, struggle through our winters, and ask for constant maintenance. We design the opposite — landscapes built around Colorado-native and drought-tolerant plants, sited for our sun and wind, and planned to look better every year.
The studio's work runs from residential front and back yards to green roofs, commercial sites, and multifamily communities. Whatever the scale, the process is the same: a careful site assessment, a concept you can react to, and a full set of drawings — 2D plans, construction details, planting and irrigation plans, and 3D visualizations — so installers can bid accurately and you can see the space before it exists.
We work in English and Spanish, and we stay involved through installation, coordinating contractors and checking the work against the plan. Hablamos Español, and we're glad to meet you on site anywhere from Fort Collins to Denver.
What we stand for
Six standards we hold ourselves to on every project — big or small.
Native First
Plants that belong here, grouped by water need and sited for sun and wind.
Read the Site
Sun, slope, soil, and drainage studied before the first sketch.
Buildable Drawings
Scaled plans and details an installer can price and build without guessing.
See It First
3D visualizations so decisions happen on screen, not after the concrete pour.
One Designer
The person who draws your plan is the person who answers your call.
Built to Mature
Landscapes planned for year five and year fifteen, not just installation day.
A better service experience, by design
Generic promises are easy. We focus on the habits that actually make the difference.
Four steps from first call to final walkthrough
A clean, predictable process so you always know what's next.
Consultation & Site Assessment
We walk the property together, talk through how you want to use it, and document sun, soil, grade, drainage, and existing plants.
Concept Design
A scaled concept plan with layout, materials, and a plant palette, reviewed with you and revised until it's right.
Plans & Visualizations
Construction drawings, planting and irrigation plans, and 3D visualizations your installer can bid and build from.
Installation Coordination
We help select contractors, answer questions during construction, and check the work against the plan.
